Why is the email I received telling me to fix merge fields?

Merge fields serve as placeholders for data that will be replaced with information from your records, user information, or company information. For example, you can place a merge field in an email template so that the greeting includes the recipient’s name rather than a generic “Hello!”. You can use merge fields when you create email or mail merge templates.

The merge fields in vertical Response are defined by two curly brackets {}. If your email is asking you to remove these symbols this means that you have curly brackets within your HTML code that need to be replaced with parentheses. Please follow the steps below:

1. View HTML code
2. To quickly find the brackets hit CTRL F , this will bring up the find window.
3. Type in the curly bracket symbol { in the find box.
4. Locate all  curly brackets and replace them with parentheses ()
